TITANGARD
Titan atlasLigeia region

A moon with weather and no sunrise

Titangard is set on the one world in the solar system with rain, rivers, seas and dunes that are not made of water — and a sky that has held the same planet in the same place for four billion years. Everything below is either a fact about Titan or a decision about the game, and it is labelled which.

The region

Five zones, one shared map

Everything outside the named circles is wilderness. 460 km × 460 km of shared ground, drawn from the same heightfield the client renders.

Huygens Station

SAFE
bearing · centreheat +4/s

Domed hub built around the probe that got here first. Depot, bank, algae vats. Heat refills here.

Nine pressure-frames and a heat exchanger, dropped in a ring around the 2005 Huygens lander because it was the only known-flat ground with a transmitter still ticking. Inside the dome you gain heat instead of losing it, and your suit seals repair slowly. Everything a colonist owns starts here.

Dossiers

What each place takes from you

Zones are not difficulty tiers. They are heat budgets, and the wilderness has no budget at all.

Tholin Flats

SAFE
westheat −0.45/s

Tholin is what sunlight makes of methane over four billion years: a fine orange organic dust that covers most of Titan and blows into dunes taller than a house. It is the first thing you ever cut and the last thing you ever run out of. Every new colonist starts a career on their knees out here.

  • Tholin
  • Scrap alloy (rare)

Sinlap Crater

SAFE
eastheat −0.55/s

An eighty-kilometre impact scar that punched through the organic blanket to the water-ice bedrock underneath. At 94 kelvin that ice is harder than granite, which is why you need a real tool. Crack it, run it through a melt tank, and it splits into the only oxygen on this moon.

  • Water ice
  • Ammonia crystal (rim)

Xanadu Ridge

SAFE
north-westheat −0.5/s

Xanadu is the brightest thing radar ever found on Titan: a continent-sized highland of fractured ice bedrock that does not drift, does not flood, and does not swallow foundations. It is the only place the game lets you place a Hearth, which is why the whole endgame points north-west.

  • Hearth plots
  • Ring-shine sightline

Belet Sands

WILDERNESS
south and outwardheat −0.9/s, +50% in rain

Belet is a dune sea the size of a country, and it is where the game actually happens. Nothing refills, nothing repairs, the rain finds you, and the crawlers that surveyed this place forty years ago still hunt the warmest thing in sight. Die here and your cargo freezes into a cache at the spot you fell.

  • Scrap alloy
  • Frozen caches
  • Crawler cores

Unnamed ground

NO COVER

Everything outside the five circles is wilderness that nobody has bothered to name. It drains like Belet, it rains like Belet, and nothing out there is on anyone's compass. Colonists cross it, they do not work it.

The sky

Saturn does not rise

Titan keeps one face toward its planet, so Saturn hangs at a fixed bearing and works through its phases instead. That makes the sky a clock you can read from anywhere on the map. One turn is one Titan day, which is one orbit around Saturn. In game it lasts ten real minutes.

One turn, dawn to dawnATLAS-01
00:00 / 00:00
Fifteen seconds of a Titan day. The planet never moves in frame — that is the point.
  1. 00:00

    Dawn

Saturn goes half-lit over Xanadu. The haze thins from brown to amber. Station exchangers run at full output.

  2. 03:00

    Rain window opens

The first methane-rain window of the turn. Scheduled per turn, announced on the compass ninety seconds out.

  3. 06:00

    Methane rain

Ramp 25 s, hold 60 s, fade 25 s. Drops fall slow and fat and take your heat with them. Drain +50% in the open.

  4. 09:00

    Eclipse

Titan crosses Saturn's shadow. Full dark, no ring-shine, the coldest ninety seconds of the turn. Crawlers hunt by heat.

  5. 14:00

    Long dusk

The haze reddens and thickens. Sightlines drop to forty metres. Ring-shine returns as a thin bright line.

  6. 00:00

    New turn

Dailies reset, the free pod spin is restored, ice re-freezes, algae vats reseed, wrecks are cleared.

Ground truth

What is real, and what we did with it

Every mechanic in Titangard started as something Cassini or Huygens actually measured. Where we changed something, we say so.

Real Titan
In Titangard
Titan's surface is water ice, hard as granite at 94 K, buried under organic sand.
Water ice is a node you crack with an ice axe. It feeds the melt tank that makes your oxygen.
Tholins — orange organic haze particles — settle out and blow into dune fields hundreds of kilometres long.
Tholin is the entry-level resource: everywhere, worth 1 joule, the floor of every recipe.
It rains liquid methane. The drops are large and fall slowly in the low gravity and thick air.
Methane rain is the weather event. It costs you 50% more heat in the open and cuts sightlines to 60 metres.
Titan is tidally locked, so Saturn hangs at a fixed bearing and only changes phase.
The sky is your clock. Saturn's phase tells you where you are in the turn without opening a menu.
Titan passes through Saturn's shadow, and the surface goes dark with no ring-shine at all.
Eclipse is the coldest ninety seconds of the turn, and the point at which crawlers start hunting by heat.
Kraken Mare is a sea of liquid methane and ethane roughly the size of the Caspian.
Phase 4. Boats, methane sailing, and salvage off the sea floor.
The atmosphere is thick and the gravity low enough that a human could fly with strap-on wings.
Not modelled. It would break the walk-back-before-you-freeze tension the whole game is built on.

Kraken Mare

Phase 4

The largest known sea of liquid methane. Boats, sailing under ring-shine, and salvage dredged off a sea floor nobody has mapped.

Sotra Patera

Phase 4

The best cryovolcano candidate on the moon. Ammonia-water slurry, warm ground, and the only place heat is free outside a dome.

Locked

Shangri-La

Later

A dark dune sea west of Xanadu, where the Huygens probe actually came down. Deep salvage, deeper crawlers.
